Love is Key

Lost meaning in a single minute
Realizing love makes life worth living
Walked alone in a world I needed it
Saw God in a child’s face
Heard His call in the loss of a man who left it
Jesus was the light in the darkness
His Word was the key for those who could hear it
In this time of darkness
With violence everywhere
The Message resonates
Love is the Key
As hostages are released
Love is the Key
As peace breaks out
Love is Key
When Silence reins in Gaza
Love is Key
We learn change comes not from force
But, through us doing better
Love is Key
Even in the darkness with misery
Change can come
We can do better
Be better
Learn violence isn’t the answer
Love is Key
Jesus came to tell us this
Love your neighbor as yourself
Let those who have ears… let them hear
Let them learn
Love is Key

Many Perspectives, One Truth

I saw , I remember,  I lived
But, what is an experience?
What is a life?
Relived , again, and again
God , saw through me as I tread
The mortal coil
Living, reliving
Have I learned nothing?
I witnessed the brutality
Of the world around me
I lamented the pain of those moments
Those people
Pointing fingers at the perpetrators
Of misery,
Of brutality,
Purveyors of the terror
The hatred
I blamed all of them
As I moved through
Each period
Each lifetime
Missing the same point
Failing to see the same truth
Thus , I must pass through it
Over, and over and over again
Until I understand it
I’m not separate from those periods
Those purveyors of darkness
In truth, we are all connected
All one
All simply parts of a whole
Trying to understand itself
And the dream that is being dreamed
Individuality is an illusion
In truth
Every one of those experiences
Perpetrators were
Me

In Memory of Charlie

When God calls us to stand
No man can stop it
No power can prevail
The ground quakes as we move
To stand up
No evil can silence us
Not even the devil can hold sway
Or interfere
With what has been ordained
Blood has been spilled
A sacrifice for the Word
The message has been given
One man’s death
Galvanized those who have held the line
The message is
Rise…

Darkest Before the Dawn

In darkness called insight
A pain called life
Known it for a long time
Fate is a merciless mate

We get ahead only to be pushed behind
Left to wonder what we did
Or if we are forsaken
As the clouds gather and the rain falls

We stand alone, yet many claim us
None appear,  as we shiver
In wet shoes, with finality
We look at the place

Wondering why
Why the thunder
Why the pain
Why do good people lose everything

Somewhere, there are answers
Somehow, there has to be a way
An ally
I know there’s hope

In the shadows
I crave the moment
That this will all make sense
Somewhere, the sun is shining

Just have to endure
The pricks and thorns
The valley’s of despair
Because no matter how dark the night

I know
The Morning is coming
All will be made clear
By the light of that new day

We will finally see the hope
We longed for
We waited for
We yearned for

And… we will be
Free

There Is Only….You

You mouth , your eyes
The contures of your face
Your hair , the sound
Your voice makes
Your body, your mind …
The essence of you
As your clothes whisper in the wind
The scent of your skin
All call to me too
Summon me
An obsession,
A fevered dream
When you touch me, the world falls away
Time ceases to have meaning
Nothing else matters
There is only
You…

Time Cycles

Cycles of time through history span
Village to village , clan to clan
All that is , all that was the villages, the towns, and the land
Times may come, and times may go
Time cycles continue on, you know
Yet things never seem to change

Consequence of the Betrayal

What is right?
What is the truth?
The morals of our history
The legacy of our past
A country made up of pioneers
Their lives built a nation
But was it in vain?
Decades of Enemies
Their actions to destroy it
In ideology and hate
They set out to eliminate it
By propaganda and demonization
By violence and dehumanization
Shutting down free speech
Eliminating free thought
As they turned the honor of the past
To make villains from those heroes
As they disassembled the dream
They burned the Constitution
With their words and deeds
As they made evil appear goodness
Their lies appear to be truth
A word at a time,
An image at a time,
They rewrote history
Using their new narrative
To snuff out the light
Leaving only darkness in its wake
Ashes , where a country once stood
And
Death the legacy of their manipulation
Destruction their final
Result

Truth Through Experience

Life is a mix
Of pain and understanding
We learn as we suffer
Gain wisdom as we bleed
Insight as we hurt
Become renewed in our time of need
Start out feeding ego
Living as if we don’t have a care
Then, see actions have consequences
We realize we  have erred
It takes time to grow
To see the path amongst the trees
In the instant, we finally see it
Regret overcomes arrogance
And… hopefully
In that moment, we gain
Peace

Darkest Just Before The Dawn

Sometimes, the tears are shadows
Sometimes, the tears are real
Lost in my discomfort
Lost in my days regrets
Questioning if I’m a target
Or is it a curse of life
As I wander the spaces
The pain becomes the only feeling
As the misery is growing
A moment at a time
The comments keep coming
Am I that bad, as the dark clouds gather
I shout to the sky
Is it fate,
I just want to know why
Who am I to garner such things
Such dark thoughts
Such hate
I tried to walk in the light
Though the shadows were always there
Watching, mocking
A narcissistic eye upon me
As I try to win , the story seems already written
The storm clouds have gathered
Will I succeed , or will it be the death of me?
Only time knows the truth
And…
It’s not talking.

Illusions

I was born in my 28th year
Thought I found a life
But lost myself in the living
Found a friend but got caught up
Caught up in who I thought I was
But it wasn’t really me
A husband
A lover
A dad
A man without a thought
A man with a dream
Caught up in a hope
For a home that would never really be
I paid for the illusion
Illusion of family
I bought into the hype
Became who I was expected to be
Worked and gave
Cared and saved
Never really got the reward
Just paid some more
Until I couldn’t pay anymore
The dream broken
My body broken
I lost that future
I lost my myself in the past, I believed
I lost my daughter
In an instant, it seemed
I had come so far
For it to all be gone
I stood alone
Wondering where I went wrong
How I went wrong
Sitting in a car in the rain
No life
No family
No home
Just listening to rain
Alone
