Contemplating the past
As I sit in my room alone
So many have died
So many I ve known
If you live long enough, you find
You see the errors that you’ve made
The wrong paths you tread with conviction
All the sadness, all the pain
You see the actions you could have done
As your journey plays in your mind
You miss all the lovers , you had to leave behind
The gray in you beard, the gray in your hair
Reminds you nobody gets to remain here
You come for a season , you dwell for a time
Then you have to move on
Then you will wake a final time
Was it worth the effort?
Did you learn the lessons life taught?
Did you eventually grow wise?
Or did you waste the time given?
Waiting for death,
Spent your life ….
Just killing
Time
