In blood, a promise made
As you swore your love
In the face of lacking faith
Pledged fealty to my wounded heart
You said you love
Evidence, on the contrary, showed
Allegiance was given to heal the pain
You took a stand as the hurt was apparent
A lifetime of pain washed away in blood and commitment
The loyal heart displayed
The words were uttered
Love declared in the moment
Solace granted a modicum of peace
To an embittered soul
And a weary traveler
Who spent 6 decades searching for
That loyal heart
And perhaps an instant of calm
Away from the accusing visuals
And worried continance
Questioning , struggling
As the days pass
The thoughts mounted
Was the sentiment real
Genuine in its intent
Or a placating measure
To hide obvious actions
That existed in plain sight?
